With the Pairs of Tim Godman and Alan Price winning 19-10 and Tom McGuinness losing a tough singles game 14-21, the match came down to the result of the triples and fours. As the match was reaching the final stages, the four of John Godman, George Reid, Kirk Smith and John McGuinness were down, meaning that the result of the match was going to be decided by the Triples game.
